TCG-ICV and UAM have developed “Hydroformic”, an innovative technology that allows the on-demand production of clean hydrogen, free from CO and CO2, from formic acid under ambient conditions (25°C and 1 atm). The key to this technology lies in the development of a structured catalyst, specifically palladium nanoparticles supported on activated carbon, that it is manufactured using 3D printing technologies, and enables the catalytic dehydrogenation of formic acid instantly upon contact.
